Still on course despite snow and ice

EUROBAUSTOFF buying volume significantly above target after three months

The first quarter of 2018 could hardly have been more variable. However, despite this, EUROBAUSTOFF Handelsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG, Bad Nauheim, managed to maintain is successful course which has been stable for years and improved its buying volume by 1 % compared to the same period of the previous year. Thanks to conservative yearly planning by the management, the sales planning for 2018 has been significantly exceeded.

“Building isn’t an indoor matter but occurs outside and is therefore dependent on the weather,” said Dr. Eckard Kern, chairman of EUROBAUSTOFF management, summarising the events of the first three months. “We see this interplay every year between November and April depending on when, where and how ice and snow hit our sales area.” This year it was January which, with an increase of almost 30 %, paved the way for the positive result of the first quarter already in advance. As this was followed by a normal February and a regionally very diverse, cold and snowy March. The results in the individual goods sectors were in accordance with this. Building, underground engineering and gardening and landscaping as well as roofs & facades saw the poorest developments. The regions most affected by the winter weather were largely in the North, North East and East.

“We hope that things will really get going again in the next few months. Spring has arrived and we can begin to catch up,” said Dr. Kern to the press. “The building industry remains unbroken, approval figures are high and demand for new living space very intense. In so far as capacity can still be found in the construction industry and building trade we will most likely be able to significantly increase our turnover volume in the next few months. Nothing changes in our yearly planning.”
