Highly promising start to the year

2016 has provided EUROBAUSTOFF with the best quarterly result since the founding of the cooperation which has also topped the comparison period of 2014, the year in which there wasn’t a winter.

As of 31. March 2016, the cooperation headquarters achieved a centrally calculated buying volume of 1.2 billion euros which corresponds to an increase of 5.3% compared to the previous year.

“A mild February and good March kept us on a successful course also this year,” explained Hartmut Möller, Managing Director EUROBAUSTOFF and responsible for the goods sectors. Crucial for this development is the significant improvement of the wholesale sales figures compared to 2015. The “heavyweights”, in particular, namely Roof and Façade, Insulating Materials and Dry Construction, had a better start to the year and ensured a turnover increase for the entire wholesale sector of 3.4%. Retail even managed 6.5% which was largely achieved by the product sectors Decorative Wood and Wood in the Garden. The sector Wood and Building Elements saw an increase of 8.3% in the first quarter. The clear winners here were Building Elements followed by Construction Wood and Wood-Based Materials.

The highest turnover increase rate within the goods sectors was, once again, achieved by Tiles/Natural Stone which managed a two-figure growth (10.5%) already in the first quarter. Here the consistent yearly market cultivation and stringent realisation by the tile specialists paid off. The joint approach ensures additional plus points in both buying as well as sales.

“The construction industry’s order books are well filled, the mood amongst investors is good and the outlook for the next years gives us hope,” sums up Managing Director Hartmut Möller on the current situation. “Our partner sites are well positioned to enable us, as a cooperation, to participate over proportionally in the industry growth.”
