EUROBAUSTOFF remains positive

A difficult third quarter in the entire building industry has dampened expectations for the end of year spurt. However, the cumulated figures after nine months remain positive at EUROBAUSTOFF.

The centrally calculated turnover achieved 4.23 billion euros at the end of September and is, hereby, exactly 4 per cent above that of the same period of the previous year. A clear plus can also be reported in planning.

“Last year we described the 3. quarter as the “golden autumn” and we anticipated that this may not be so easy to repeat in 2014,” explains Ulrich Wolf, Chairman of EUROBAUSTOFF. “The yardstick was very high thanks to the good economy.” The managing director also highlighted another change compared to the previous year. “At the end of the year our partner with the second highest buying volume left the corporation. This volume has only been partly compensated by new partners.”

More than three quarters of the buying volume is achieved in wholesale which this year particularly suffered from the weakness in the product segments Plaster/Thermal Insulation Composite Systems/Building Chemicals and Raw/Wall Building Materials. Wholesale has, therefore, so far “only” contributed 2 per cent to the cooperation’s increase. Retail trade and the segments Wood and Tiles/Natural Stone improved over-proportionally. Retail trade increased by more than 12 per cent and Wood by more than 17 per cent thanks to three new wood retailers. Tiles/Natural Stone continued its increase and improved buying volume, once again, by approximately 8 per cent. Here the sales policy of the tile professionals which has been extremely stringent for many years, can be noticed in the long term.

EUROBAUSTOFF management predict that the growth rate at the end of 2014 will be a low one-figure sum.
